Pumps & Pumping Systems challenge is closed now.

The Facility for Low Carbon Technology Deployment (FLCTD) project, implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in collaboration with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) is launching the 2018 Innovation challenge in Pumps Vertical. The broad aim of the FLCTD project is to:
Create a community that links researchers to industry partners, small businesses, innovators and end-users to hasten the market transformation curve of energy efficient technologies leading towards sustainability.
Entries are invited to identify the promising innovations in the areas described below, which can be deployed to address technology gaps and increase energy efficiency in these areas. The total award money for FLCTD Innovation Challenge 2018 in the Pumps is US $200,000.
The Challenge is open for innovation in pumps and pumping systems and includes the following:s

Electric Pumps

Off-grid Pumps (any source of renewable energy)

Diesel Pumps

  • Industrial pumps – Innovations that save energy of pumps that find application in industries, buildings, municipalities (water supply and sewage disposal). Pumps should demonstrate efficiency levels higher than what is available in the market
  • Agricultural Pumps and Pumping Systems – Innovations demonstrating energy savings in pumps or pumping systems comprising of water intake system including valves, pipes, pumps, water delivery system including pipes, valves, water delivery system such as sprinkler, drip irrigation system, for application in, but not limited to, agriculture, horticulture, agro-forestry.
  • Innovations should clearly demonstrate reduction in energy consumption through efficiency improvement in the Pumps or Pumping Systems. This may include, but not limited to:

    Design improvements that reduce energy consumption and overcome application constraints;

    Emerging and novel technology applications that improves efficiency;

    Improvement in material of construction, improvement in hydraulics;

    Innovative service models that result in overall pumping system efficiency improvements.

Incentives for Participation
