Project Targets

The project has a target to identify 120 innovations for technology validation, and commercialize 40 innovations.
The project provides financial assistance of up to US$50,000 to the winners to validate their innovation and demonstrate its efficacy (performance) in actual field conditions – a necessary step before commercialization.
The project is tasked to guide the strengthening of the innovation ecosystem, comprising of knowledge-based institutions, government, industry and other stakeholders in the innovation arena.

Development of an awards methodology to identify and select competitive technology innovations

The project has developed and evolved a mechanism to identify early-stage innovations that address technology gap, and have potential for energy savings as well as replication. This is being achieved through a series of annual ‘Innovation Challenges’ which are open award competition calling for innovative solutions in at present 6 technology verticals.

Each technology vertical has an expert panel which defines the requirements of Innovation challenge and selects promising innovations that address the technology gaps and have potential to reduce energy consumption.

The project has a target to identify 120 innovations for technology validation, and commercialize 40 innovations.

Technical assistance for Technology Transfer

The FLCTD Project aims to establish a deployment support ecosystem for clean, low carbon and energy efficient technologies. The project aims to identify 5 appropriate networks and centers focused at research and deployment of climate mitigation technologies.

FLCTD will provide capacity building activities through consultations and workshops with international and national experts.

Sandeep Tandon

National Project Manager

With over 32 years experience, he leads the projects and has engaged a diverse set of stakeholders, Subject Experts, industry representatives and investment firms, to select and finance innovations in low-carbon technologies for commercial and industrial sectors. He has led large complex projects on Climate Change and Energy Efficiency in international consulting firms and bi-lateral and multi-lateral agencies. He provided advisory support for energy efficiency and climate mitiagation projects in India and other Asian countries.

Rituraj Borah

Programme Manager

Rituraj Borah has over 15 years’ experience in collaborative initiatives encompassing sustainability, clean energy and urban strategies. As Programme Manager, he is involved in the management and implementation of the technical activities of the project innovation challenge cycle in Electrical Energy Storage.

Nitesh Kaushik

Expert – Technology Transfer

Nitesh Kaushik has 13 years of experience in technology, innovation and entrepreneurship development. He leads the activities focusing on strengthening the technology transfer ecosystem in the country (project component 2).

Kiran Kumar

Technical Expert

K V Kiran Kumar has 17 years of experience in Energy Conservation activities and international projects. He is a Bureau of Energy Efficiency accredited energy auditor, Certified Chartered Engineer and Lead certified auditor for ISO 50001. He leads the work on validation of innovations and supports FLCTD project in implementation of innovation challenge cycles in Space Conditioning and Industrial IoT vertical.

Sailendra Misra

Finance Expert

Mr. Sailendra Misra is a Chartered Accountant and has more than 20 years of experience of working in the Finance and accounting domain with International Agencies in the Development sector and has been working as a Finance expert in the low carbon and renewable sector since the last six years. He supports the FLCTD project in conducting the Financial due diligences for the technology demonstrations under the Innovation Challenge.

Sandhya Santhanam

Project Assistant

Sandhya Santhanam has more than 20 years of experience in the field of administration and Finance. She provides administrative assistance, contract and financial management support to the FLCTD project.
